Promotion & Operation of MGA Events:
We had a very good conversation of what we could do going forward to improve participation in all MGA & Club events that involve golf.  Here are some of the main topics discussed for potential implementation this year.

  1. Callaway Cup-  This would be a year long event where MGA members would be given points for each event participated in and when 10 points are accumulated that individual would get an entry into the year end drawing for a new set of irons.  We are hoping to get additional prizes so we can have 1st - 5th place prizes.  The points awarded would vary based on event for example the Men’s Day play would be worth 1 point,  Club Championship would be worth 5 points and so on.  These point values are not set yet but we will have an information bulletin posted and emailed out to all MGA members with specific details about this program.

  1. Member Ambassador for each event-  This was brought up to have at least one member for our major events involved in the planning and promotion of each event.  What we would like to do is make past years Champions be the ambassador for that event in the upcoming year.  This is obviously open for suggestions but all who were in attendance thought it to be a good idea.

  1. Communication-  This was discussed at length and it is at the top of the get it done list for this years MGA board.  One aspect the MGA would like to improve is transparency.  It is important to get current and relevant information out to the MGA members in a timely and consistent manner.  One of the avenues of communication is the MGA blog which has many items of current and past information on it.  Dave Hall is working to make this a better and more relevant form for getting all of your MGA info.  MGA board discussed how to better get the info from the blog and one way suggested was to enter your email in the “follow by email” box on the left side of the blog as you scroll down the page.  This is the best way to follow because you will get an email every time the blog is updated with new information.  The blog address is www.nationalgolfclubmga.blogspot.com

  1. Handicap Discussion-  Discussion was opened because there is continued efforts being put forward to make sure all the MGA events are fair and equitable.  One was to make sure of this is to make sure all members post their scores for every round they play whether it is 9 holes or 18 holes.  Our handicap system is capable of saving your 9 hole score and combining it with another.  Dave Dunn was appointed as the Handicap Chairman and will work closely with Dave Hall in assuring all MGA members that we are doing everything we can to make sure Members are posting scores.  The MGA bylaws are being amended and will be resubmitted for approval to indicate penalties for non posting of scores.
