Larry Rose Repeats as Sr. Club Champion for 2013

I had a case of Déjà vu at this years Senior Club Championship.  I think it was because we had a repeat champion in Larry Rose.  Larry is one of the steadiest players around and won this year with anther dose of his down the middle on the green steady as a rock playing style.  On day one he opened with a solid round or 76 which was good enough for a 7 shot lead over his closest competitor Ed Bernard.  On day two Rose had a stumble here and there but managed to still shoot a very nice 78.  This two day total of 154 claimed him his second consecutive Senior Club Championship by 10 shots!  Make sure when you see the Colonel around the club to congratulate him on a job well done!  We also had some flight winners that will begetting the always coveted invite to the year end Champions dinner.  In the first flight we had long hitting John Doster capturing the Net Championship with a white hot round two that propelled him past the competition and on to glory.  His second day net score was seven shots better than anyone else in his flight.  That tidy little 66 gave him a two day total of 140.  Nice work John!  The Second flight had a gross and a net winner since the overall champion came out of the first flight.  The gross champion was Ed Bernard who was the most consistent player in the tournament.  He racked up back to back 83's for a two day total of 166 and an invite to the Champions Dinner.  The net side of things was decided by a scorecard playoff because Dave "the Dunner" Dunn and Dick "The Terminator" Tilley were deadlocked at 150.  Dick Tilley had to be called back to the club to get his picture taken.  Mr. Tilley was elated to hear of his long awaited invite to the 2013 Champions Dinner.  He will certainly be watching that mailbox closely come October when those invites go out.  Thanks to all who played and made this tournament possible.  We certainly appreciate your support!

Men's Day Results for May 18th 2013

Well he did it again folks.  Frank D'Auria was on fire for the third week in a row!  He had only one bogey on route to a very impressive 5 under round of 67!  Frank was on top of the Stableford Point game by going 16 over his quota.  That is the 4th week in a row that Mr. D'Auria has bested his quota and it seems to be higher every time.  I think it may start to get a bit more difficult to best his quota soon.  It can't all be about Frank though can it?  The other games were Skins, Beat The Pro (soon to be renamed beat the Hack) and Most Arnies.  Now you may ask what are Arnies?  Arnies are when a player makes a par or better after missing the fairway on the tee shot they get an Arnie.  We had both net and gross in this game.  The winner on the gross side was Russ Stokes who carded 6 Arnies on way to his 1st place position.  The net side was a tight race with John Doster having 10 and close on his heals in second place was Mark Watson with 9.  Great work guys!

The skins game had a familiar face at the top with Ron Coffman taking the lions share of the skins today.  He had 5 skins  with White Hot Frank D'Auria hot on his tail with 4 skins.

The beat the pro game had a plethora of winners that is a little to long to list here so check out the full results on the results sheet.

Thanks to everyone for playing.  There will be no Men's Day next week due to the Sr. Club Championship.  If you are 50 and over I would love for you to play in the Sr. Club Championship if you can.  It will be both Saturday and Sunday with tee times starting at 9:00am.

Best,

Dave

Men's Day Results for Saturday May 11th 2013

Bluebird day today at National for our Men's Day.  The threat of rain may have kept a few players away but the threat turned out to be a non factor.  All we had was a bit of a breezy day.  We had 14 players show up to compete for the big money.  The team game today was 2 net of the 4 player team to go along with Stableford, Skins & Beat The Pro

Frank D'Auria had another hot hand today with 4 birdies and an eagle to help his team come out on top of the 2 net ball team game.  The team of Frank D'Auria, Alan Curtis, Russell Stokes and Mark Watson took first place by only one stroke over their nearest competitor which was Ahlfeld, Mitchell, Gough and Butcher.  They scored an impressive 121 which is 23 under par!  Nice going guys.

D'Auria dominated all the other games as well buy topping his quota by 10 and having 6 skins.  That is two weeks in a row for this guy.  Great work Mr. D.

Frank was also the only player to beat the Pro this week.

Thanks to everyone for playing and don't forget to sign up for the Senior Men's Club Championship which is just around the corner and also the Match Play Championships.

Best,

Dave
