Men's Day Results for April 27th 2013

Nice showing today for what turned out to be a beautiful sunny day for golf.  The formats today were the usual skins, stableford & beat the pro along with an additional individual game of best 3's and 5's.

The 3's & 5's game was  a tight race in both the gross and the net categories.  Steve Ahlfeld, who is no stranger to the winners circle, pulled out another close one against sweet swinging Andy Summers.  Steve scored a 32 with Andy right behind him at 33.  Nice playing gents!

The net side of things for the 3's and 5's game was just as close with the long hitting Patrick Butler getting a kitchen pass to come out and play with the boys so he could collect a little cash for the first place prize.  Patrick shot 30 and was only one shot ahead of the ever present Steve Schwerin who carded 31.  In the last paying spot was Russ Stokes who is coming off of injured reserve.  Expect big things from him in the future.  Congrats guys to a job well done!

The skins game and the Stableford were dominated by Frank D'Auria who lit up the front 9 with 4 birdies!  He was way over his point quota with +9.  Great work Frank!

The pro has been working hard on his game and it is starting to show some results.  Despite making 6 birdies today he still had two players best him.  Frank D'Auria and it pains me to say this but Mark Packard also bested me by 1 point.  Ouch!  great work guys.

Thanks to everyone for playing and remember that next week we will have no Men's Day because of the Kentucky Derby Scramble that starts at 1:00pm with a shotgun start.  Get a team together and sign up for that event it is always a good time!

Best,
Dave

Men's Day Results for April 20th 2013

Well today was definitely the Ron Coffman Show where I paid my admission price and had a front row seat.  Ron was at the top of all the game categories today in a big way!  His score of 68 was very impressive to watch.

In the two man blind draw game Bill Womble drew the lucky straw and got to have Ron "Fire" Coffman as his partner.  These two players combined their skills to come up with a very impressive 14 under par 58!  They were followed closely by our second place team of Steve Ahlfeld and Ron Murray who scored an 11 under par 61.  The last paying spot was captured by Alan Curtis and Jim Blank.  They had a very respectable 9 under par.   Nice work to all the top finishers today.

The Skin's Game had Ron Coffman Dominating the field with 6 total skins.  That tends to happen when you make 6 birdies in your round.  Second place in the skins was Frank D'Auria with 3 skins.

The Stableford game had, you guessed it, Ron Coffman with the top point getter by pulling 40 points which was 5 points more than his quota.

In the Beat the Pro Game we had quite a few players besting the pro.  The Pro needs to get a few more rounds in and maybe he won't get thumped so bad every week.

Thanks to everyone for playing today and I hope to see you next week!

Best,

Dave

Men's Day Results for April 13th 2013

The weather could not have been better with not a cloud in the sky and temperatures in the mid 70's.  Being that the Masters Golf Tournament is going on we had our ever popular Pick-A-Pro format as one of our games in Men's day.  We had a great turnout with 5 groups turning up for Men's Day.

The Pick-A-Pro from the Masters field had some interesting results and it really made an impact which player you picked. The object was to combine your low net score along with a player from the Masters field for Saturday.  You got a bonus of 1 shot off of your score for wearing Masters gear.  We had some tight grouping at the top of the leader board so it made a big difference whether you wore your masters gear or not. It took one of our players up one full spot because of it!  The top spot was taken by the player who did not post the lowest score but made a good choice of partner in Angel Cabrera coupled with his Masters garb giving him an additional stroke off for a 1st place total of 137.  That player was Jim Blank!  Way to go Jimbo!  The second place finisher was the man with the  best individual score but failed to choose a partner who did the same.  Steve Schwerin played a near flawless round of net 66 and was all decked out in his Masters gear but his boy Sergio Garcia let him down a bit by shooting 73 down at the other National Golf Club.  Their total of 138 was just one shot back.  Sorry Steve.  Great playing anyway!  You know we can't have a men's day without mentioning Ed Bernard right?  Well Ed managed to slip into the 3rd paying spot by combining his score of net 71 with the Masters co-leader Brandt Snedeker who scored an impressive 69 to get his team to 140.  Good work Ed although it must be a bit of a let down from taking the top spot every week.  The fourth place finisher was Joel Tew who was all alone in that spot thanks to his lovely Masters paraphernalia.  He finished at 144 total thanks to his partner Jason Day and his 1 stroke off for wearing Master Gear.  In the last paying spot you had a tie with two players that jumped up from a tie for 13th and a tie for 11th to a tie for 5th because of their excellent choice in partners.  Frank D'Auria wisely chose Angel Cabrera and Russ Stokes took Eldrick to score 145 and the final paying spot for that event.  Nice work guys!

The Skin's Game had a 4 way tie at the top of the heap with Paul Courneya, John Doster, Steve Schwerin & Dough Turner all getting 2 skins each.

The Stableford Game was also a tie at the top with Dave "the dunner" Dunn and Steve "Down the Middle" Schwerin taking top honors with an impressive +5 over their quota.

Tough day for the Pro today with everyone beating his number.  ouch!

Thanks to everyone for playing!

Best,

Dave

Men's Day Results for April 6th 2013

Attention all Members!  I just wanted to let everyone know that I will be taking bids for the next time we have a team game for men's day.   I will be auctioning off the right to have Ed Bernard on your team.  The starting bid will be $100.  I bet you all know what that means, another banner day for Ed Bernard!  The only place he did not finish on top was the Team game.

The format's today were Skins, Stableford & Wack & Hack.

The Wack & Hack game was a team game where the four player team counts their low score and their high score for the hole.  This event was championed by the team of Steve Ahlfeld, John Doster, Ron Murray and Steve "Down the middle" Schwerin with a score of 148.  The second place team was not far behind and of course included the much sought after Ed Bernard along with Paul Courneya, Bill Womble & Dave Dunn.  Their team finished only two strokes behind the winners at 150.

We had a tie for the leading skins getter with, of course, Ed Bernard taking one of the spots at the top along with his teammate Dave Dunn.  They both had three skins each.

The Stableford game today was Ed Bernards day all alone!  He was the only player to get his stableford points so he took home all the cash for that event!  A nice and profitable day for Ed.

Thanks to everyone for playing in today's event and hope to see you next week.

Best,

Dave
