We had an early taste of summer today for Men's Day with the temperature and the humidity crowding the 90 mark. Luckily we went at 9:00am to take advantage of the early morning cool breezes.
We had a team game today where the four player team counted one gross ball and two net balls of the team. It was down to the wire with the team of Eddie Davis, Drew Davis, Tom Lorenz and Dave Hall coming out on top by 1 stroke over the second place finishers. We had two teams finish in second position but you know what you call the second place position right? Sorry for the trash talking but I could not resist a little jab there.
Stableford was dominated by the Dunner (Dave Dunn) who clobbered his quota by 6 to collect $22 in stableford money. I think it was the new Cobra Amp irons. Nice work Dave. The second place finisher in the stableford was Dick "the Terminator" Tilley with 3 points over his quota. great playing there Dick.
The Skins competition saw Ron "Fire" Coffman at the top with 3 skins. Coming in right behind him was the Incredible Bulk, Drew Davis with 2 skins.
The Beat the Pro competition was a little harder than last week but still not a great challenge with 5 people beating up on the Pro.
Check out the results sheet for the full results of all MGA activity for the day.
Next weeks format will be best 3's & 5's individual net & gross. It will be tee times starting at 9:00am. You are welcome to book your own tee time outside of the 9:00am slots and participate in Men's Day as long as you have at least one other Men's Day participant in your group.
Don't Forget to get your Match Play Matches scheduled. The Brackets are out and will be posted on the window outside the pro shop before next Saturday. If you need a copy I can email it to you so please let me know if you need one.
Thanks to everyone who participates in our club events. I appreciate your efforts in making them successful.
Best,
Dave

Men's Day Results May 19th, 2012
All we can say about today's golf is that Rick Roberts has lots of sand in his pockets if you know what I mean.
He absolutely blitzed the field today in the Net division of the Best 17 game. He shot a 62 net which converted to a 57 in the Best 17 game. That was good enough to beat the closest competitor by 7 shots! We will have a committee of his pears doing a full investigation into his handicap.
The gross portion of the Best 17 game had Ron Coffman topping the field with 71. Have you ever won an event because you made a larger number on a hole than the 2nd place competitor? Well now Ron can say he did because he and Mark Packard were tied at 78 but Mr. Coffman made 7 on #4 and the largest number Pack-Man made was a 6.
The Stableford competition was also dominated by the Sandman Rick Roberts. He destroyed his quota by going +9. Great work Rick! Some other notables in the quota game were John Doster +5, Mark Packard +4 and Bill Fitzgerald +3. Word around the clubhouse is that Fitzgerald caught a little fire on the back 9 because Hank Roofe threw some money on the table for some big back 9 bets. We always knew Fitzy was a money player. He was just waiting to get the bet right.
Everyone thought they were not going to here Tom Lorenz's name this week but you would be wrong. Mr. Lorenz, who has been on quite a hot streak of 5 weeks strait of going over his quota. Unfortunately he broke the streak today and fell shy of his number by 4 but his did have the most skins today. He was the skin leader with 3 total skins. Way to hang in there Tom.
Last but not least it was not a good day for the Pro today. Everyone beat him. Better luck next week.
Thanks to everyone for playing this week. Next weeks format is 2 net 1 gross of the 4 player team. We will have a shotgun start at 9:00am
Tomorrow the Match Play Brackets will go live for all divisions. You will have 3 weeks from tomorrow to play your first match. Call or email if you have any questions. There is still time to sign up so check the lists to make sure you are signed up.

Men's Day Results for May 12th 2012
It was all Ron Coffman today in the MGA Play day for sure! He led all categories by quite a margin. In the Team game he had some help from sharpshooter Steve Ahlfeld and his other two accomplices Pat Butcher and Steve Schwerin to capture 1st place with a score of 120. The teams had to count a varying number of balls on every hole from 1, 2 & 3. Nice work guys.
It was Ron Coffman again leading the skins this week. His 6 birdie round helped him collect 7 total skins with Steve Ahlfeld close behind with 4 skins. You guys are a bunch of skin hogs!
It may seem like a bit of a broken record by now but Ron Coffman ran away with the stableford competition also. He was 11 points over his quota collecting 43 total stableford points. WOW! Nice work Mr. Fire.
Check out the results sheet below for complete MGA results. Thanks to everyone for playing today.
Next weeks format is Individual Best 17 Net & Gross along with stableford, skins and Beat the Pro. Hope to see you there.
Please remember to sign up for the Match Play events. I will try to finalize the brackets tomorrow and get the first matches under way.
Best,
Dave
p.s. You should have received your Men's Invitational invitation and entry form so please get those filled out and sent in as soon as you can. Thanks

Men's Day Results for May 5th 2012
It was a scorcher today for Men's Day. It was a good thing we started a little early to get the golf in before I melted. We had 12 players today for our format of Better Ball Par 4's Only game. The Gross winner today for that game was Drew "the hulk" Davis with a nice round of 2 over par 42 to collect a 1st place check. In the Net division we had a tight race with Bill Womble edging out southpaw Ed Rhodes by one shot to cash in on the 1st place prize money. Rounding out the last paying spot for that event was of course Tom Lorenz because we can't have a week go by when Tom does not get his name posted on the results sheet somewhere.
For the stableford format today their were very few points out with only 12 total points out. Dave Sundman was the leader of the pack with 3 points over his quota. The big story continues to be Tom Lorenz who has gone 5 straight weeks with besting his quota every week. Great work Tom.
The skins saw another familiar name at the top this week. Peter Vanica, who was the top winner last week with 5 skins, was once again the winner this week with 4 total skins. You da man Pete!
The lone person to beat the pro this week was Dave Sundman. Great work Mr. Sundman.
Thanks to everyone for playing this week. Hope to see you next week for MGA Play.
Next week we will have a Shotgun Start at 10:00am----Format: Best 1,2,3 of Four Player team (alternate counting the best 1 ball, 2 balls and 3 balls on each hole starting with 1 ball counting on hole number 1) Stableford, Skins & Beat The Pro----Pro Shop will make pairings.
All the best,
Dave
